An IRS officer named Gaurav Garg has been allegedly attacked by his colleague at the Income Tax office in Lucknow on Thursday. The video is going viral on social media.
Gaurav Garg is a 2016-batch IRS officer, currently posted in the Income Tax Department in Lucknow. After the incident, he was taken to the hospital where doctors say he is in stable condition. He had injuries on his face and head. So far, no police case (FIR) has been registered.

What happened? Why was Income Tax Officer Attacked?
According to the police, Garg informed them on Thursday about the attack. A police team was sent to the office right away. Legal action is now being taken.

As per sources, the incident started after an argument between Garg and his colleague over an ongoing departmental inquiry. Things got out of hand, and Garg was allegedly physically attacked and got injured. Other people in the office stepped in and calmed the situation.
Garg was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. It is also reported that he is married to an IPS officer.

The attacker has been identified as Yogendra Mishra, a 2014-batch IRS officer who is currently posted in Kashipur. The clash happened during a discussion about a confidential departmental probe.
Garg had called Mishra to his 6th-floor office to record his statement related to the inquiry. Mishra reportedly got angry when he came to know about the nature of the inquiry. The argument turned serious.
The two officers went to a senior officer’s cabin briefly, but when they came back to Garg’s office, Mishra allegedly picked up a paperweight and attacked Garg. He also injured him using broken glass.
A video of Garg in a wheelchair at the hospital is now circulating online. A formal police complaint (FIR) is expected to be filed soon at the Hazratganj police station.
This incident has raised serious concerns. Even the BJP’s State President, Bhupendra Chaudhary, visited Garg at the hospital. Police officials, led by DCP Ashish Srivastava, are closely monitoring the case.
The Income Tax Department has launched a high-level inquiry into matter. More details will be released soon.
