In a significant development in Bhiwani district, local police have arrested a private bank employee for his involvement in a credit card fraud case. The accused, identified as Rajkumar from Kairu, Tosham, was caught red-handed after committing fraud by issuing a credit card in a customer’s name without her consent. A credit card was also recovered from his possession.

The case came to light when a woman from Siwani filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police Station. She had taken a personal loan from ICICI Bank Siwani in October 2022. On June 10, 2024, she received a call from someone claiming to be a bank employee, who informed her of a payment due on a credit card. Confused and concerned, she told the caller that she had never received or applied for a credit card.

The situation escalated when, on June 12, 2024, she visited ICICI Bank Siwani to inquire about the supposed credit card. To her shock, the bank informed her that a credit card had indeed been issued in her name and, alarmingly, Rs. 3 lakh had been withdrawn from it. The bank employee, it turned out, had orchestrated the scam, leading to a significant financial loss for the woman.

Following her complaint, the Cyber Crime Police Station Bhiwani registered a case under the relevant sections of the law. Female Assistant Sub-Inspector Sudesh Kumar led the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of Rajkumar, who was found to be already imprisoned in a different fraud case.

Rajkumar was previously in district jail Bhiwani for another credit card fraud. He was taken on remand for this latest case and was subsequently produced in court. The court has ordered his return to the district jail as legal proceedings continue.

This case highlights the growing need for vigilance and robust security measures in the banking sector to protect consumers from such fraudulent activities.
