On December 30, two employees of a leading telecom service provider were allegedly assaulted at the residence of an IAS officer and his brother in Navi Mumbai over an issue related to an Internet router. The incident involved Aman Mittal, an IAS officer currently serving as the Deputy Secretary in the Maharashtra water supply and sanitation department, and his brother Devesh Mittal, along with four security guards from the residential society.

Incident Details:

Two individuals employed by Airtel for fiber internet installation services visited Devesh Mittal’s residence to address an internet router problem. An argument ensued between the service providers and the Mittal brothers, who claimed dissatisfaction with the internet range in their bedroom.

The altercation escalated, leading Aman Mittal and Devesh, accompanied by four security guards, to allegedly attack the Airtel employees using pipe and wooden sticks.

The victims, identified as Sagar Mandhre (27), an Airtel engineer, and his colleague Bhushan Gujar from the sales team, were physically assaulted by the Mittal brothers and the security guards.

The entire incident was captured by CCTV cameras installed within the building premises.

Subsequently, Aman Mittal contacted the Rabale police station, prompting police personnel to intervene and take Mandhre and Gujar to the police station.

Legal Action:

An FIR was filed against Aman Mittal, Devesh Mittal, and the four security guards under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), pertaining to causing hurt by dangerous weapons or other means and wrongful confinement.

In response, Aman Mittal filed a cross-complaint against Mandhre and Gujar, accusing them of attacking him with the router machine. An offense was registered against the Airtel employees under section 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon or means) of the IPC.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
