According to the RTI reply, the fund of ₹120 crore was approved by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance. The amount was used not only for the main celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga but also for organizing 10 major Signature Events. These events are planned to mark the successful completion of 10 years of the International Day of Yoga, which has become a global health and wellness movement since its inception in 2015.

The celebration aimed to promote awareness about the benefits of yoga and to encourage people to adopt yoga in their daily lives. The 10 Signature Events are expected to include large-scale public yoga sessions, workshops, cultural programs, and international collaborations to showcase India’s traditional wellness practices on a global stage.

This funding shows the government’s continued commitment to promoting yoga as a preventive and therapeutic health practice and highlights India’s leadership in spreading yoga globally.

The International Day of Yoga is celebrated every year on June 21. It was first observed in 2015 after the United Nations, following a proposal by India, declared the date as a global event. Since then, it has gained massive participation both in India and abroad.
