Where boarding is provided at bank’s cost or arranged through the bank free of cost, ½ of the Halting Allowance will be admissible.

Where lodging & boarding are provided at bank’s cost or arranged through the bank free of cost, ¼th of the Halting Allowance will be admissible. In the case of an officer claiming boarding expenses on a declaration basis without production of bills for actual expenses incurred, he shall not be eligible for ¼th of the Halting Allowance.

But this halting allowance is paid as per hours of duty done by officers. Officers get full halting allowance only if they work for 8 hours and more. Officers don’t get halting allowance, if the duration is less than 4 hours.

If the stay outside the headquarters exceeds 24 hours, there is no minimum period laid down for granting 2nd day’s halting allowance. If an officer on duty outside the headquarters remains on casual leave due to illness, he may be allowed reimbursement of hotel expenses and/or diem allowance, provided:

  • The officer remains at the same station during casual leave.
  • A medical certificate is produced in support of illness.

Halting Allowance is not payable when an officer is deputed to another office within the same city. It is payable only when the officer leaves the station where the headquarters is situated. In case of officers posted in rural areas who are required to travel beyond Panchayat limits, they shall be entitled to TA / Halting Allowance as per bank rules.

Where Panchayat comprises many villages and long-distance travel is required for official purposes (recovery, BC letter collection, etc.), officers may be allowed separate local conveyance only for travel beyond 8 kms from the office, within the Panchayat area.

No Diem Allowance is payable to officers who visit their family headquarters on official duty. Officers posted in rural areas are allowed to keep their families at a place of their choice. Such officers shall be entitled to Diem Allowance for official visits to the place where their families are permitted to stay.
