How Audit becomes Harassment for Bank Employees in India?

The month of March has ended, and it was expected to bring some relief for Bank Employees. But unfortunately, the workload has increased a bit more in April. But Why?

In April, the Banks appoint auditors to audit the work done in branches for the whole financial year. The audit is done for loan accounts – whether all guidelines have been followed by the Branch in sanctioning of Loans and also for operational work, such as whether cheques are passed as per guidelines or not.

But this audit becomes harassment if not handled properly. For example, an auditor asked a branch head of SBI to open the branch on Sunday so that he could complete the audit.

In the month of March, Bank Employees were called to work on holidays in the name of target achievement, and now they are being forced to work again on holidays to complete the audit.

This letter has gone viral on social media, and people are criticizing banks for putting so much workload on their employees. Banks appoint auditors and give me adequate time for audit work. Then why are branches being opened for Audit work? It is a big question. The audit can be done on weekdays, and Banks should look into this matter.

Several Employees working in PSU Banks have reported that they return late from the office due to audit work. Even some female employees reported that they had to stay in branches till 10 or 11 pm to close the audit. Banks should look into this and find a solution for this.
