HDFC Bank Organises Mega Coin Mela in Bhubaneswar, Rs.20 Lakh Coins Distributed to Public

In a joint initiative to address the shortage of coins in the local market, HDFC Bank, in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bhubaneswar, organized a mega mobile van coin mela at the busy Unit-4 market, one of the city’s largest retail hubs.

The event was officially inaugurated by Debasish Sahoo, a senior RBI official, and was attended by several key figures, including Abu Bakar Khan, member of the Fish Market Association (Jay Hanuman Matsya Sangha), Animesh Biswal, Senior Vice President at HDFC Bank, Suraj Chhetri, Odisha Operations Head, and Sambit Mohapatra, Head of the Bank’s Currency Chest. The main objective of the coin mela was to support small traders, vendors, and local businesses, who often struggle with a shortage of coins for daily transactions. During the event, coins worth ₹20 lakh were distributed among the public, significantly benefiting local shopkeepers and market vendors.
