Two days ago, an FIR was registered at the Urban Estate police station in Rohtak against Sushil Kumar, the gunman of Y. Puran Kumar, the former IG of the Rohtak Range, for allegedly demanding a bribe from a liquor dealer.Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarnia stated that Sushil, Y. Puran Kumar’s gunman, had demanded a monthly bribe of 2 to 2.5 lakh rupees from a liquor dealer. Sushil was arrested after an audio clip related to the incident was recovered. During interrogation, Sushil named Y. Puran Kumar. Rohtak police produced Sushil in court on Tuesday evening and sent him to jail in judicial custody.

According to sources, this is believed to be the reason for Puran Kumar’s suicide. On September 29th, the government removed Puran Kumar from his post as IG of the Rohtak Range and appointed him IG of the Police Training College (PTC), Sunaria. This transfer was considered a form of punishment within the police department.
