Govt declares Bank Holiday on 14 April, All Banks will be closed
The Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has declared the bank holiday on 14 April 2026. All banks in India will remain closed on 14 April 2026 on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti.

Earlier, the DOPT had released an order declaring a holiday for all central government offices on 14 April 2026. Now, the Finance Ministry has clarified that the holiday will also be applicable for banks.
The Finance Ministry said: This is with respect to the Department of Personnel and Training’s (DoPT’s) OM No. 12/4/2020-JCA dated 09.04.2026 (copy enclosed) on the subject captioned above and to convey that DoPT’s order shall also apply to all the Public Sector Banks/Public Sector Insurance Companies/Public Sector Financial Institutions/RRBs.
