Government Extends Tenure of Punjab National Bank Executive Director M. Paramasivam

The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, has extended the tenure of Shri M. Paramasivam, Executive Director of the Punjab National Bank.

According to a government notification issued on September 15, 2025, Paramasivam’s current term was set to end on November 30, 2025. However, his tenure has now been extended until his superannuation on March 31, 2027, or until further orders from the government, whichever comes earlier.

With this extension, Paramasivam will continue to serve the bank in his role as Executive Director for almost another year and a half.

Profile of Shri M. Paramasivam, Executive Director of the Bank

Shri M. Paramasivam took charge as Executive Director of the Bank on December 1, 2022. He is an agriculture graduate and began his career in 1990 with Canara Bank as an Agricultural Extension Officer. Over the past 32 years, he has worked in different leadership roles such as Branch Head of VLBs, Regional Head, Circle Head of various offices, and also headed the Priority Credit Wing at Canara Bank’s Head Office.

His professional experience covers several important areas including branch banking, credit, priority sector lending, forex and trade finance, and compliance. While serving as the Head of the Priority Credit Wing, he played a key role in launching the FRUITS portal in collaboration with NABARD and the Karnataka State Government. He was also instrumental in setting up five Agri Credit Centres under the EASE-3 reforms.

To further strengthen his leadership skills, Shri Paramasivam has completed the Leadership Development Strategy Program conducted by the Banks Board Bureau and the Indian Banks’ Association.
