
The Government of India has officially declared April 14, 2025 (Monday) as a public holiday in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birthday. The announcement was made through an Office Memorandum (OM) issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training). The holiday notification has also been sent to key government institutions, including the UPSC, CVC, C&AG, National Commissions, Supreme Court, High Courts, Central Administrative Tribunal, Prime Minister’s Office, Election Commission, RBI, and other relevant bodies. Additionally, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has been asked to publish the announcement on the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) website.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, was a social reformer and a champion of equality and justice. His birth anniversary is observed annually as a significant occasion across India.
This move by the government ensures nationwide recognition of his contributions and reinforces the importance of his legacy in shaping modern India.
