A generator outside the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Jalalabad town of Kannauj district caught fire suddenly, creating panic among customers and nearby locals. The fire broke out during the day while the generator was running, and people saw flames coming out of the machine.

Quick Action by Bank Staff Prevents Major Damage

As soon as the fire was noticed, the bank staff acted quickly. They used water and a fire extinguisher to control the flames and prevent the fire from spreading. Thanks to their alertness, the fire was brought under control before it could cause serious harm or injuries.

Bank Services Affected for an Hour

Due to the fire, the bank’s operations were temporarily stopped. Customers faced difficulties in completing their transactions. Services remained affected for about an hour until another generator was arranged. Once the new generator was installed, normal banking activities resumed.

Extreme Heat and Power Cuts Blamed

Branch manager Arvind Kumar explained that the fire may have started due to overheating of the generator. He said that because of frequent power cuts and low voltage in the area, there is more pressure on generators these days. Offices, including banks, are relying heavily on generators to keep services running during electricity outages.

Customers Face Trouble During Incident

The incident caused disruption in banking services, especially for customers who were there to withdraw or deposit money. Many people had to wait outside the bank until the issue was resolved.

Why This Incident Matters

This incident highlights the growing problems caused by power shortages in many parts of India, especially during peak summer months. With temperatures rising and electricity supply becoming unstable, generators are running for longer hours, increasing the risk of accidents like this one.
