Fraud Case filed against seven employees of Indian Bank in Balrampur

In the Harraiya police station area of Balrampur district, a case of fraud and embezzlement has been lodged against seven individuals, including the branch manager, at Indian Bank. The police initiated the case based on a complaint filed by a victim and have commenced their investigation into the matter.

Police Complaint

According to the complaint submitted at Haraiya police station, Mohd. Ismail, a resident of Bankatwa Khurd village in the Haraiya police station jurisdiction, reported that he deposited Rs 95 thousand in his savings account at the Indian Bank branch in Haraiya on July 11, 2023. The passbook was duly updated to reflect the deposit.

However, after approximately two months, upon revisiting the bank to verify the deposited amount, Ismail discovered that the money had not been credited to his account. Upon bringing this to the attention of the bank manager, he was allegedly threatened and asked to remain silent. Additionally, another account holder, Ashok Kumar, experienced an embezzlement of Rs 1.60 lakh from his account in the same bank. Dhaniram, Uday Pratap, Nandlal also faced losses of Rs 30,000 each from their respective accounts, and Akshay Kumar reported a misappropriation of Rs 1.53 lakh. Subsequently, the police registered a case based on these complaints and initiated an investigation.

Case filed against Employees

CO Darvesh Kumar, providing details, mentioned that a case was filed against Indian Bank Manager Naseem Haider Rizvi, Assistant Branch Manager Sumit Vidha, Clerk Rajendra Kumar, Head Cashier Ravi Pratap, Recovery Agent Deepu Yadav, Bank Friend Adarsh Srivastava alias Rahul, and Bank Friend Adesh Kumar Srivastava. The investigation is currently underway. Meanwhile, the bank branch manager has refuted the allegations, deeming them baseless and asserting that the bank is not involved in the matter.
