Fire Breaks Out at Under-Construction SBI Branch in MP’s Barwani
A fire incident has been reported from State Bank of India (SBI) in Madhya Pradesh. A fire broke out on Wednesday evening at an under-construction State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Pati town of Barwani district, Madhya Pradesh. The incident was caused by a short circuit, officials said. While no one was injured, the fire caused damage worth around ₹10 lakh.

Smoke Seen Rising Suddenly
The fire started at the SBI branch located on Bokrata Road. People nearby noticed thick smoke coming out of the building and immediately alerted the authorities. Since the branch has not yet been opened to the public, the doors were locked at the time of the incident.
Officials Rush to the Spot
After receiving information, Station House Officer Ramdas Yadav and Tehsildar Babli Barde, along with their teams, rushed to the location. Bank officials were called, and once the doors were opened, the entire interior was found filled with smoke.

Fire Brought Under Control Quickly
With the help of local residents, the fire was brought under control. Fire brigade teams also reached the spot, but by then the flames had already been extinguished. Initial investigation showed that the fire started due to a short circuit in the air conditioner.
Furniture and Materials Damaged
According to Branch Manager, furniture and PVC materials inside the bank were damaged in the fire. The assessment of other losses is still underway.
Tehsildar Babli Barde said the situation was handled quickly, which prevented major damage. SHO Ramdas Yadav confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported.
Relief as No Casualties Reported
Although the incident caused financial loss, officials said the quick response helped avoid a bigger disaster. Further investigation is ongoing to assess the total damage.
