A sudden fire broke out on Tuesday morning at the main branch of Axis Bank near Sangwan Chowk in Sirsa, causing damage to furniture, computers, and electrical equipment. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the cash stored in the bank was declared safe.

How the Fire Started and Was Brought Under Control

According to reports, the bank’s alarm started ringing around 5 a.m. Jagjivan Singh, a security guard at a nearby mall, heard the alarm and went to check. He noticed smoke coming out of the bank and quickly informed the local police and fire department.

About half an hour later, the fire brigade arrived at the spot. The fire crew broke the lock on the bank’s shutter to get inside and began dousing the flames. After about 35 minutes of hard work, they managed to bring the fire under control.

What Was Damaged in the Fire

Although the exact cause of the fire is still not known, officials suspect it was likely caused by a short circuit. Inside the bank, computers, electrical appliances, chairs, tables, counters, and important papers were burnt. The electrical wiring and fittings in the building were also destroyed.

Interestingly, despite the damage, bank officials confirmed that the cash inside the bank was completely safe. They have not yet shared details about the total cost of the damage.

Cleanup and Impact on Bank Services

Once the fire was put out, bank staff spent the entire day cleaning up the burnt furniture and other damaged items. Senior bank officials also arrived to inspect the situation and prepare a report.

When customers came to the bank around 10 a.m. to deposit or withdraw money, they were shocked to see the damaged interiors. The bank officials informed them that it would take around a week to get things back in order and resume normal services.

The sudden fire at Axis Bank’s Sirsa branch was a concerning incident but was quickly handled by the fire department. While the fire caused damage to furniture and equipment, no cash was lost, and no one was hurt. Customers are now being asked to wait about a week before services return to normal.
