लखीमपुर के गांव पंचायत सकेथू में कर्ज के बोझ के कारण एक दलित किसान की मौत हो गई। इस किसान के पास 60,000 रुपये का कर्ज था, और बैंक के कर्मचारी रोज़ उनके घर आकर परेशान करते थे, उनके घर और ज़मीन को नीलाम करने की धमकी देते थे।
मंगलवार को बैंक के कर्मचारी ने इस किसान को बंधक बनाकर एक घण्टे तक गाड़ी में घुमाया और उनके साथ अपमान किया, इसके दौरान उनसे 500 रुपये भी लिए, जैसा कि उनके बेटे ने आरोप लगाया। वर्तमान में, पुलिस ने शव की पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेज दिया है।
इस किसान के बेटे ने बैंक के कर्मचारियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई के लिए पुलिस को लिखित रूप से शिकायत दर्ज कराई है। यह पूरा मामला सकेथू गांव के मजरा जमालपुर में हुआ है, जहां 58 वर्षीय किसान सुंदर लाल के संदिग्ध परिस्थितियों में मौत हो गई। परिवार इस मौत का कारण उनके अपमान में देख रहा है। उनके बेटे गोपीचंद ने बताया कि उनके पिता ने भूमि विकास बैंक से 60,000 रुपये का कर्ज लिया था।
फसल में भी काफी नुकसान हुआ था और आर्थिक स्थिति ठीक नहीं थी, इस कारण कर्ज को धीरे-धीरे चुकाया जा रहा था, लेकिन बैंक ने अचानक 3 लाख रुपये की मांग की। मंगलवार को, बैंक के कुछ कर्मचारी उनके घर आए और उनको बंधक बनाकर गांव के बाहर ले गए, और उनके साथ लगभग 1 घंटा तक अपमान किया और फिर उन्हें छोड़कर चले गए। जब हमने पिता से पूछा कि उन्होंने क्या कहा, तो उन्होंने रोते हुए बताया कि अब हमारा घर भी नीलाम हो जाएगा, और हमारी ज़मीन भी छीन ली जाएगी।
इसी दर्दनाक परिस्थिति में, रात में उन्हें हृदय गर्मी का हमला आ सकता है, जिससे उनकी मौत हो गई। इस मरे हुए किसान का नाम छोटेलाल था, जो पूर्व ग्राम प्रधान भी थे। उनके तीन बेटे थे: रामलखन, गोपीचंद, और ज्ञानप्रकाश। गोपीचंद ने बताया कि परिवार के पास कुल 8 बीघा की ज़मीन है, और परिवार के सभी लोग मजदूरी करते है

The family attributes his death to the humiliation they faced. According to his son Gopichand, his father had taken a loan of 60,000 rupees from the Land Development Bank. Due to significant crop losses and financial difficulties, they were gradually repaying the loan.
The deceased farmer, Chotelal, was also a former village head. He had three sons: Ramlakhan, Gopichand, and Gyanprakash. Gopichand mentioned that the family owns only 8 bighas of land and everyone in the family works as laborers. Balvant Shahi, the Inspector in charge of the Hyderabad police station, mentioned that the family has filed a report for a post-mortem examination. Further action will be taken after the post-mortem examination if necessary.
