Recently, the Managing Director and CEO of Union Bank of India urged all branches to complete day end by 6:00 PM and leave office by 6:30 PM. But still after the announcement by MD&CEO, the guidelines are not being followed. It has been reported that various branches, Regional and Zonal Offices remain open beyond 6:30 PM thereby defying the orders of MD&CEO. In India, normally, all the government offices close by 6:00 PM.

Despite the clear directives and circulars issued by the Central Office, some Regional and Zonal Offices reportedly continue to disregard these instructions, citing practical challenges. The Federation expressed its disapproval of such non-compliance, underlining that adhering to these timelines is critical to the Bank’s commitment to work-life balance.

Now, in a significant step towards fostering a healthier work-life balance, the All India Union Bank Officers’ Federation (AIUBOF) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that officers at Union Bank of India can leave work on time and dedicate quality time to their families.

The Federation also pointed out instances where certain branch managers and officers deliberately delay work or linger unnecessarily at branches, disrupting the overall effort to achieve timely closure of operations. AIUBOF stressed that such behavior not only violates the management’s directives but also impacts the morale and well-being of colleagues.

The Bank’s management has assured officers that steps are being taken to streamline operations, reduce unnecessary checks, and provide timely support to branches. However, the Federation called for collective responsibility and self-discipline among officers to complete tasks within designated timelines.

To address persistent issues, the Federation urged officers to report instances of undue delays, pressures, or non-compliance with day-end guidelines to their affiliate units for immediate resolution. It also warned that any continued defiance of these instructions would result in decisive action, including exposing those undermining the efforts towards achieving work-life balance.

The Federation concluded by appealing to all officers to uphold Union Bank of India’s reputation as an organization that respects both professional and personal priorities. “Let us act responsibly and work together to maintain discipline, cooperation, and respect for our collective well-being,” it stated.

This initiative underscores the Bank’s and Federation’s shared vision of creating a more balanced, supportive, and productive workplace environment for all Unionites.
