Embezzlement Case of Over Rs.21 Lakh Uncovered at Baroda UP Bank in Ballia

A case of embezzlement amounting to ₹21,57,290 has been reported at the Sanwara branch of Baroda UP Bank in Ballia district. The bank’s branch manager, Chandrabhushan Rai, has filed a complaint against cashier Swaminath, accusing him of fraud and breach of trust.

How the Incident Happened

According to the reports, ₹15 lakh was transferred from the Chittauni branch to the Sanwara branch on Monday. At the end of the day’s transactions, the total cash in the branch amounted to ₹21,57,658, including ₹6,57,658 that was already present in the safe.

The branch manager alleges that the cashier, Swaminath, took the key to the safe in a deceptive manner and later returned it without locking the safe properly.

On Tuesday night, the locker was found completely empty. Interestingly, it was cashier Swaminath who first noticed the open locker and immediately informed the branch manager.

Investigation and Police Action

Following the incident, Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh arrived at the bank and conducted an inspection. Upon investigation, only ₹368 was found inside the safe.

A case has been registered, and the police have begun an investigation. Initial findings suggest that bank employees may have been involved in the embezzlement, or there could be a larger conspiracy at play. Authorities are now working to uncover the full details of the case.
