In a surprising incident, a scammer who tried to cheat a man ended up being tricked himself. The incident has gone viral on social media, with many people praising the victim’s smart thinking.
Fake CBI Officer Tries to Scam Bhupendra
Bhupendra Singh, a resident of Kanpur, was going about his daily routine when he received a phone call. The caller introduced himself as a CBI officer and spoke in a very serious tone.
The fake officer told Bhupendra, “We have your obscene videos, and a case has been registered against you.” He further threatened that if Bhupendra did not pay ₹16,000, he would face legal trouble.
To make the scam look real, the fraudster even sent a fake FIR copy as proof of the alleged case. However, Bhupendra immediately suspected that this was a cyber fraud. Instead of panicking, he decided to play along and trick the scammer.
Bhupendra’s Clever Plan
Bhupendra acted scared and told the fraudster that he was just an intermediate student and did not have the money at that moment. He made up a story that he would have to mortgage a stolen gold chain to arrange the amount.
The fraudster, believing Bhupendra’s story, agreed to wait.
Scammer Falls for the Trap
The next day, when the fraudster called again, Bhupendra continued his act. He told the scammer that he needed ₹3,000 in advance to retrieve the gold chain.
Surprisingly, the scammer believed him and sent the money immediately.
Seeing that his plan was working, Bhupendra continued to deceive the scammer. He later told him that the jeweller suspected he was a minor and asked him to bring his parents. So, Bhupendra requested the scammer to act as his father over the phone.
To convince the jeweller, Bhupendra said he needed another ₹4,500, and once again, the fraudster transferred the money without any doubt.
Fraudster Loses More Money
On March 10, the fraudster called Bhupendra again, asking for the money he originally demanded. But Bhupendra made another excuse.
He told the scammer that he could get a loan of ₹1,10,000 by mortgaging the gold chain. However, there was a processing fee of ₹3,000. Desperate to recover his money, the fraudster sent another ₹3,000 to Bhupendra.
Scammer Realizes the Truth and Begs for His Money
By this time, the scammer understood that he had been tricked. He panicked and started pleading with Bhupendra.
He said, “I have a family, a wife, and kids. What will I tell my wife?”
But it was too late. Bhupendra had already reported the entire incident to the police and decided to donate the money he received from the fraudster to someone in need.
