A high ranking government officer has fallen victim to fraud. A Deputy Collector living in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh , has fallen victim to fraud. The Deputy Collector is currently suspended, and a cunning conman took advantage of this.
The conman claimed to be an employee of the Chief Minister’s Office and offered to reduce his sentence. The Deputy Collector trusted him and gave him approximately 3 lakh rupees. But the conman could not revoke his suspension. Soon he realised that he had been duped and filed a police complaint.
Arvind Singh Mahor, a resident of New Ashok Colony in Gwalior’s Thatipur police station area, was posted as Deputy Collector in Sabalgarh, Morena. While filing a complaint with the police, Arvind Singh said that on the night of September 19, 2025, at around 8:17 pm, he received a call from an unknown number on his mobile.
The caller introduced himself as calling from the CM Portal office. Arvind Singh said that when he received the call, the caller identified himself as Ashwini and claimed he was an employee of the Chief Minister’s Office and could reduce the sentence against him in the departmental proceedings. In exchange, he would have to pay some money.
Arvind fell for his words and transferred ₹295,000 to various numbers he provided at various times between September 19th and October 1st. Even after this, the accused continued to demand money, which made him suspicious. Arvind gathered information and discovered that there was no employee named Ashwini in the Chief Minister’s Office. Upon learning the truth, Arvind demanded his money back, but the fraudster stopped communicating with him. He then filed a police complaint.
Arvind Singh Mahor has been suspended for allegedly misbehaving with a woman and transferring six Patwaris illegally. A Gwalior woman had accused Arvind of harassing her daughter over the phone. The woman also submitted a complaint, including a video, at a public hearing.
