A branch manager of Canara Bank went missing in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Monday. The branch manager has been identified as Tapan Kumar Sahu. He was posted at Canara Bank’s Baramba branch.
According to reports, the branch manager had gone to the bank’s Kalapathar branch for some work and was returning to Baramba when his mobile phone got switched off somewhere near Patani chhak.
Unable to trace the whereabouts of Tapan, relatives of the bank official lodged a complaint, following which police have started an investigation into the matter.
“He (Tapan) went out of house at around 6 pm and later talked to the branch staff at 9:45 pm. When I called him, his phone was switched off. After that, we went to Berhampur police station to lodge a police complaint before coming here (Baramba).
We went through the CCTV footage but didn’t find anything or any sign of an accident. I request to find my husband,” said wife of the missing Canara bank branch manager.
Speaking on the matter, a staff of the Canara Bank Baramba branch, Ajit Kumar Tarei said that he sent two staff of the bank to check in case there had been any accident on the Baramba-Kalapathar route. “I also went out and searched for him (Tapan) and later lodged a complaint with Baideswar police.”
