Now, an important update has come regarding this incident. The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is planning to take a strong stand against bank managers. The CDO has asked for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines to take strict action against managers who show negligence or lack of discipline.
The CDO has requested detailed information about the government schemes and the RBI’s rules from the District Lead Bank Officer. This will help identify and punish those bank managers who are careless or indisciplined in their work related to these important schemes.
District performance in Chief Minister’s Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan
Hapur district continues to fall behind in the Chief Minister Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan, a youth employment and entrepreneurship scheme. The government regularly reviews and publishes district rankings based on scheme progress. Recently, Hapur slipped to the 21st position once again, showing poor performance. Due to poor performance, the government officials are worried and advising bank managers to sanction maximum loans.
On Tuesday, the CDO held a review meeting with bank managers at the district headquarters auditorium. The managers were kept waiting for about an hour to emphasize the importance of their work and show the seriousness of the issue.
However, on Wednesday, during another meeting at Vikas Bhawan, the manager of Prathama Bank (UP Gramin Bank) left the meeting halfway. The CDO had ordered all managers to remain until the meeting ended, so leaving early was seen as a sign of indiscipline. The CDO reported this behavior to the District Magistrate (DM) and the Divisional Commissioner.
Action Against Bank Managers and Their Response
The CDO is preparing letters recommending action against bank managers who fail to meet their responsibilities. On the other hand, the bank managers argue that it is unfair to call them repeatedly for long meetings and force them to sit for hours. They feel pressured and claim that instead of cooperating, some officers are meeting secretly to avoid any penalties.
CDO Himanshu Gautam said that despite two days of review meetings, bank managers have not improved their work on government schemes. Because of this continued negligence, the CDO has now asked for the RBI’s guidelines from the lead bank manager. This will allow strict disciplinary actions against those responsible for delays or poor performance.
