Banker’s Story shared by Rajni Kant

I was the branch manager of a semi-urban bank branch. It was a hot summer day, and the branch was packed with customers when the power suddenly went out. The backup generator did not kick in, and we were left in complete darkness.

Our staff quickly sprang into action and used flashlights to guide customers out of the branch. As the day wore on, it became apparent that the power outage was going to last longer than expected. We realized that we needed to act fast to ensure that our customers’ needs were met.

We immediately contacted our Banking Correspondent, who was stationed in a nearby rural area, to provide customers with access to cash withdrawal and other essential banking services. Our Banking Correspondent arrived at the branch within a few hours and set up a temporary banking facility outside the branch. Customers were able to withdraw cash and perform other banking services with the help of the Correspondent.

We also worked with local authorities and set up a temporary power supply to the branch to restore some services. It was a challenging situation, but our staff worked tirelessly to ensure that our customers’ needs were met.

The incident taught us the importance of having a Banking Correspondent as part of our team and being prepared for any situation. It also brought our staff together and reminded us of the importance of teamwork and collaboration.

In the end, the incident was not just about a power outage, but it was about ensuring that our customers’ needs were met even in the most challenging situations. This experience will always be a cherished memory for me and my team.
