In a tragic incident in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a woman named Savita was found dead under mysterious circumstances. The body was discovered inside a red suitcase in her home. The case has left the local community in shock and raised several questions.
What Happened?
According to the police, Savita reportedly took her own life by hanging herself. Her husband, Ashok Kumar, returned home from a wedding late Saturday evening and found the house locked from inside. After managing to open the door, he was shocked to see his wife’s body hanging. He says their children and his mother were asleep in another room at the time.

Ashok immediately informed his elder brother Anil Kumar, who lives in Bareilly. However, instead of reporting it to the police right away, Ashok claims he panicked. In his fear and confusion, he placed his wife’s body inside a red suitcase lying in the house. The body remained there all night.
How Did the Police Find Out?
It was Ashok’s brother Anil who finally informed the police on Sunday morning. After receiving the call, the local police along with forensic experts reached the house in Pakka Katra Mohalla, under Tilhar police station. When they opened the red suitcase, they found Savita’s body inside. The police have since sent the body for postmortem.
A Chilling Audio Message Discovered
During their investigation, the police found an audio recording on Savita’s phone. In the message, Savita mentions her two children and asks them to take care of each other and their younger brother. She also speaks about someone who had been troubling her a lot and says she would rather die by her own hands than suffer at theirs.

In the same audio, she refers to another woman, hinting that a “second mother” might come into their lives, and tells the children to stay happy. This message is now a key part of the ongoing investigation.
Family Details and Background
Ashok Kumar works as a recovery agent at a bank. He married Savita in 2010, and they have three children: 13-year-old Sandhya, 8-year-old Aman, and 3-year-old Rohit. They live with Ashok’s mother, Agana alias Mayadevi. On the night of the incident, Ashok had gone to attend a wedding, while Savita, the children, and his mother were at home.
Ashok’s Statement to Police
Ashok told the police that he was terrified after seeing his wife dead and didn’t know what to do. That’s why he decided to put the body in the suitcase. He also confessed to asking his children not to talk to anyone about the incident. According to him, Savita had mental health issues, and he feared that if the police got involved, the children might also be taken away.
Police Investigation Ongoing
Savita’s family in Aligarh has been informed. The local police say that there is no evidence so far of any family dispute, and neighbors are unwilling to speak openly. Circle Officer (CO) Jyoti Yadav from Tilhar police station said that they will move forward based on the postmortem report and any complaint filed by Savita’s family.

Shahjahanpur SP Rajesh Dwivedi also confirmed that police found the body in the suitcase and that the husband admitted to putting it there. The version of events has also been partially confirmed by the children. Further investigation is underway.
