Bank of Baroda Officers’ Association complains about harassment of Officers by ZIAD Head Ludhiana

The All India Bank of Baroda Officers’ Association (AIBOBOA) recently took a significant step to address the challenges faced by bank officers in the Ludhiana region. They have written a letter to the Zonal Head of Ludhiana, raising serious concerns about the working environment and treatment of officers under the leadership of the ZIAD Head, Mr. Mahesh Chhabra.

Issues Raised by the Association

The letter highlights several key issues that have been affecting the morale and well-being of the officers. One of the primary concerns is the behaviour of Mr. Mahesh Chhabra, the ZIAD Head. The association described his approach as dictatorial, meaning he exercises his authority in a controlling and harsh manner. Such a leadership style, according to the association, is not only unproductive but also harmful to the work environment.

Public Humiliation and Intimidation

A specific issue mentioned in the letter is the public humiliation of auditors. The association has reported instances where Mr. Chhabra has belittled auditors in front of regional authorities. During these interactions, he often asserts his superiority, implying that his knowledge and judgment are above everyone else’s. This behaviour not only undermines the confidence of the officers but also creates a toxic environment where team members feel disrespected and undervalued.

Use of Offensive Language and Leave Denials

Another major concern raised by the association is Mr. Chhabra’s use of offensive and inappropriate language when addressing his team members. Officers have reported that he often resorts to harsh language, especially when they request leave. The association claims that Mr. Chhabra uses the approval or denial of leave as a tool to intimidate and control his team. There have been instances where officers, even after providing medical certificates, were denied leave and put on a loss of pay.

One troubling case mentioned involves an auditor who requested leave to care for a sick relative. Despite the genuine need for leave, Mr. Chhabra denied the request, suggesting that other people could take care of the relative. Such a response not only shows a lack of empathy but also indicates a disregard for the personal well-being of employees.
