Bank Merger News: 2 Banks in Gujarat Merged by RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has merged two Gujarat-based co-operative banks, both of which will come into effect on December 15, 2025.
In the first order, the RBI sanctioned the amalgamation of Amarnath Co-operative Bank Ltd., Ahmedabad, with The Kalupur Commercial Co-operative Bank Ltd., Ahmedabad. From December 15, all branches of Amarnath Co-operative Bank will operate as branches of The Kalupur Commercial Co-operative Bank.
In another decision, the RBI also approved the merger of The Amod Nagric Co-operative Bank Ltd., Amod, with The Bhuj Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd., Ahmedabad. This scheme will also take effect on December 15, 2025. After the merger, all branches of The Amod Nagric Co-operative Bank will function as branches of The Bhuj Mercantile Co-operative Bank.
With these mergers, customers of the two amalgamating banks will now be served under the network and operations of their respective acquiring co-operative banks beginning December 15.
