Bank Manager in Kanpur arrested by CBI for taking bribe

The CBI on Tuesday arrested the manager of Aryavart Bank and his agent from Hamirpur on charges of taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. Both were sent to jail after being presented in the special CBI court in Lucknow. The victim had complained against Balendra Sachan, manager of Aryavart Bank, for taking bribe.

According to CBI sources, a complaint was received against Balendra Sachan, manager of Beri branch of Aryavart Bank in Hamirpur district, for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. On the basis of which, his agent Vinod Dwivedi was first caught taking the money.

On his trail, Aryavart Bank’s manager Balendra was also caught from his residence in Harsh Nagar, Kanpur. Both the accused were produced in the special CBI court in Lucknow on Tuesday, from where they were sent to jail in judicial custody.

Mukesh Kumar Sahu, a resident of Lehra village of Hamirpur, had complained to the CBI about demanding bribe. Mukesh alleges that he had applied for a loan of Rs 2 lakh in Aryavart Bank to start candle making business in the name of his wife Aarti Devi.

The loan was sanctioned on 25th August. When he withdrew Rs 1 lakh from the account, branch manager Balendra Sachan asked for a bribe of Rs 20,000 through broker Vinod Dwivedi.
