Bank Guard’s Gun misfired, Clerk injured in Union Bank branch in Churu

A surprising incident occurred at the Union Bank in Churu city on Tuesday evening at around 4:45 pm. A bullet accidentally fired from the gun of a bank guard and hit a bank clerk in the leg. The injured clerk was immediately rushed to the emergency ward of DB Hospital by his colleagues. Thankfully, his condition is now stable, and he is out of danger.

What Happened?

According to SI Surendra Barupal, the police received a call about a gunshot fired outside Union Bank, resulting in an injury to a bank employee. Upon arriving at DB Hospital, it was discovered that the bullet had been fired accidentally.

The gun slipped from the bank guard Ratan Singh’s shoulder while he was adjusting his belongings, and as he bent down to catch it, the weapon discharged. The bullet struck Jayant Padhiar, a 34-year-old clerk from Ratan Nagar, in his right leg.

Jayant was sitting on his bike outside the bank at the time. He had gotten off the bike to help set the UPI PIN on the mobile phone of the bank guard, Ratan Singh, when the incident occurred.

Medical Assistance

After the shooting, Jayant was quickly taken to the emergency ward of DB Hospital, where he received medical attention. Dr. MM Pukar, the Principal of the Medical College, promptly arrived at the hospital to oversee Jayant’s treatment. His timely response was praised by the hospital staff and visitors, especially since there have been concerns in the past about delays in medical professionals reaching the hospital.

Dr. Pukar’s actions were recognized as commendable, and people appreciated his personal involvement in ensuring proper care for the injured clerk.

At the time of the report, no formal case had been registered at the Kotwali police station regarding the incident. The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accidental discharge of the firearm.
