Vijayawada: Members of the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) staged a protest at Dharna Chowk, demanding that the government halt the outsourcing of employees and initiate recruitment. The protesters voiced their concerns about privatization, the alleged misuse of public funds in public sector banks, and the outsourcing of bank jobs.

During the protest, the BEFI members called on the management to address various issues. They urged the management to focus on recruitment and the absorption of temporary and casual employees. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of providing better customer service, scrapping the new pension scheme in favor of reviving the old pension scheme, and addressing other related demands. Employees from various banks affiliated with BEFI participated in the protest.

The Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) is a trade union representing employees of commercial banks, the Reserve Bank of India, NABARD, regional rural banks, and co-operative banks. The federation advocates for the improvement of service conditions for bank employees, the development of the banking industry, the defense of public sector banking in India, and the provision of exemplary service to customers, including marginalized and neglected individuals.
