An attempted robbery took place at the Bank of India branch on Maksi Road in Ujjain’s Gopalpura area on Thursday morning. When staff arrived, they found that the locks had been broken, but the intruders failed to enter the bank.

Bank employees noticed the main channel gate lock broken as soon as they opened the branch. They immediately informed the bank manager and the police. Soon after, a police team, along with a dog squad and fingerprint experts, reached the spot to investigate.

According to CSP Deepika Shinde, the criminals tried to cut the shutter and remove it, but they could not break the lock on the main gate. The locks were later opened in the morning using the manager’s key.

Police have started checking CCTV footage and are trying to find out why the bank’s alarm system did not go off during the attempted break-in. Entry to the bank has been restricted while the investigation is underway.
