In Gujarat’s Surat, a group of five robbers executed a daring daylight heist on Friday, managing to flee with a substantial sum of Rs 14 lakh in cash from the Bank of Maharashtra branch. The audacious robbery took place at around 11 am, with the culprits arriving on motorcycles while keeping their helmets on to conceal their identities.
The surveillance footage both inside and outside the bank captured the entire sequence of events. The video reveals the robbers’ arrival on two motorcycles at the Bank of Maharashtra branch, followed by their swift entry into the premises.
Once inside, they swiftly drew their pistols, aiming them at both the bank staff and the customers present. Without giving the bank employees a chance to react, the robbers brandished their weapons and demanded that the cash from the bank’s counters be deposited into their awaiting bags.
Subsequently, all the bank’s customers and employees were gathered into a separate room under the robbers’ control. One of the robbers, distinguished by a pink shirt, proceeded to scour the counters for money while maintaining a menacing posture with his pistol.
Meanwhile, another robber, draped in a black shirt and wearing a scarf over his face, methodically collected money and packed it into his bag. Upon filling the bag, this second robber exited the bank premises swiftly, leaving behind a sense of shock among the bank employees and customers. The robbers managed to make off with a significant amount of cash, causing an immediate red alert to be issued by the Surat Police.
The authorities promptly responded by mobilizing a city-wide search operation. Checkpoints and roadblocks were established throughout the city, and an extensive network of CCTV cameras and mobile surveillance was deployed in a bid to locate and apprehend the culprits responsible for the robbery.
