Public Sector Banks in India are suffering from severe staff crisis and fear of privatisation. The privatisation process of IDBI Bank is undergoing and the bank will soon be privatised. Not only IDBI Bank, but there is fear that other banks may also be privatised. The Government had earlier announced its plan to privatise banks and the reduce the number to four. This means that only the big 4 banks will be government owned and rest all will be privatised.

The bank employees and unions have raised several issues of bank employees with the government but the government is not paying attention to it. The most recent issue of 5 day banking has still not been fulfilled though the 12th BPS was signed one and a half years ago. The IBA says that the proposal if lying with the DFS and DFS says that the proposal is lying with the government.

Due to non-fullfilment of demands, the bank employees have also announced participation in the strike on 9 July 2025.
