The Uttar Pradesh unit of the All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) organized a meaningful event in Lucknow to mark the 56th anniversary of the nationalization of banks. This special program was not just a celebration of a historic milestone, but also a demonstration of AIBOC’s deep sense of social responsibility and its commitment to bringing positive change in society.
19th July is observed as Bank Nationalisation Day in India. On this day in 1969, the Government of India, under the leadership of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, nationalized 14 major private banks. This was a landmark event in the economic and banking history of the country. Later, in 1980, another 6 banks were nationalized, bringing the total number of nationalised banks to 20.
The event was held at Shrimad Dayanand Bal Sadan, an orphanage located in Moti Nagar, Lucknow. Several impactful activities were carried out as part of the program:
- Plantation Drive:
AIBOC members planted 15 fruit-bearing trees in the ashram premises. This step was taken to contribute to the protection of the environment and promote greenery in the surroundings. - Fruit and Refreshments Distribution:
The team distributed fruits and refreshments to 90 children living in the orphanage. This thoughtful gesture brought smiles and joy to the children. - Distribution of Essential and Sports Items:
Basic necessities and sports materials were also distributed among the children to support their day-to-day needs and encourage physical activities.
Shrimad Dayanand Bal Sadan has been working for the rehabilitation of children rescued from child labour for the past 30 years. AIBOC members interacted with the children, spent quality time with them, and gave them love, support, and encouragement. The children felt a sense of belonging and happiness through this engagement.

While addressing the gathering, Shri Laxman Singh, Secretary of AIBOC’s Uttar Pradesh unit, said:
