The All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) has written to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan requesting the government to declare September 30, 2025, as a public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act. 30 September will be observed as Mahashtami and Mahanavami.
AIBOC said that bank employees get very few holidays compared to their workload, and their work-life balance is badly affected. Declaring September 30 as a holiday would give them relief and allow them to celebrate the festival with their families.
The union also mentioned that some banks have raised objections through the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC). However, AIBOC urged the government to reconsider these objections, keeping in mind the genuine needs of employees and the principle of fairness.
The Confederation said that making September 30 a holiday will ensure fairness, promote social justice, and boost employee morale.
