A recent report has revealed that outdated and inefficient technology tools are costing Indian companies up to six months of working hours annually and contributing to a startling 40% of Indian employees contemplating job changes within the next six months. The study, conducted by software giant Adobe, highlights the detrimental impact of poor technology on productivity and employee morale.
The report underscores the widespread belief among both leaders (93%) and employees (87%) that inadequate technology tools hinder productivity. Access to technology also plays a significant role in job seekers’ decisions, with a majority (34%) deeming it critical and another majority (50%) considering it a top priority.
Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, particularly generative AI and automation, are perceived positively by Indian workers. About 98% of respondents believe generative AI to be helpful and innovative, while 94% hold the same view of automation. Despite this positive outlook, only 59% of companies currently utilize generative AI, despite 94% of workers advocating for its adoption.
The report identifies security concerns, executive resistance, and a lack of comprehensive understanding as the primary barriers impeding the widespread adoption of AI technologies.
Emphasizing the transformative potential of AI, Girish Balachandran, Senior Director and Head of Digital Media Business at Adobe India, stated, “The transformative impact of automation and artificial intelligence on work cannot be understated, as they have the power to revolutionise traditional work paradigms.” He further added, “With due preparedness, organisations can forge a future where productivity is truly empowered, unlocking the full potential of every worker.”
The report surveyed 626 leaders holding Director or more senior positions and 1,385 employees.
