Bandhan Bank announced on April 5 that its Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, will retire from his position after completing his current tenure on July 9, 2024.
Ghosh’s Contributions to Financial Inclusion
Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, who is also the founder of Bandhan Bank, has been a leading advocate for financial inclusion in India. With over 30 years of experience in the microfinance and development sector, he has played a significant role in promoting access to financial services for all.
Reappointment and Resignation
Earlier, on November 24, 2023, the bank’s board approved the reappointment of Chandra Shekhar Ghosh as the MD & CEO for another three-year term. However, in his resignation letter attached to the regulatory filing, Ghosh expressed his decision to retire from Bandhan Bank at the end of his current tenure as MD & CEO on July 9, 2024.
Achievements and Gratitude
Ghosh highlighted the impressive growth of Bandhan Bank during his tenure. As of March 31, 2024, the bank had accumulated deposits of Rs. 1.35 lakh crore and advances of Rs. 1.28 lakh crore. He expressed his gratitude to the bank’s borrowers, depositors, and employees for their trust and support.
Leaving a Strong Legacy
Ghosh expressed satisfaction in leaving behind a strong franchise in the hands of a capable leadership team, many of whom have worked closely with him in building the organization. He assured that Bandhan Bank would always hold a special place in his heart, and he would be available for any assistance or advice the bank may need in the future.
Share Performance
On April 5, Bandhan Bank’s shares closed 0.35 percent lower at Rs 197.40 apiece on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
