It has been eight months since the recruitment exam for Local Bank Officers (LBO) was completed, but Indian Bank has still not issued appointment letters to the selected candidates. The official notification was issued on August 13, 2024.
MP Su Venkatesan has strongly criticised the delay. He said that candidates who cleared the exam and interview in 2024 are still waiting for clarity, and no proper date has been given for issuing the joining letters. The MP demanded more transparency in the recruitment process.
Venkatesan said that he had written to the Managing Director and CEO of Indian Bank in August. He requested them to ensure reservation and complete the recruitment process without further delay. He pointed out that the online exam was held in October 2024, and 1,305 candidates were shortlisted after interviews in November. However, while other public sector banks that started recruitment later have already completed their process, Indian Bank has not published the final list of selected candidates.
What Indian Bank said?
In its reply dated September 4, Indian Bank said the final selection process is still ongoing. The bank asked the 1,305 provisionally shortlisted candidates to take part in further selection stages.
The MP said the bank has failed to explain why the appointment orders are being delayed. He also raised concerns about the lack of transparency in publishing test scores for different categories. According to him, the bank is only dismissing the issue by saying it is following government guidelines and the practices of other banks.
