A tragic road accident on the Badnawar-Ujjain four-lane highway on Wednesday night claimed the lives of eight people, including three residents of Mandsaur district. The accident occurred when a gas tanker, coming from the wrong direction, collided with a Tata Tiago car and a pickup vehicle.
Bank Employees Among Victims
The victims included employees of AU Finance Bank, who were returning from a bank meeting in Indore. The collision was so severe that the passengers in both vehicles were trapped inside.
Badnawar police station in-charge, Amit Singh Kushwaha, along with his team, rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. They were taken to the hospital, but several people succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

The deceased were identified as:
- Girdhari Makhija (44), Mandsaur
- Anil Vyas (43), Ratlam
- Viram Dhangar, Sitamau, Mandsaur
- Bana alias Lalsingh, Jodhpur
- Anoop Poonia (23)
- Jitendra Punia
- Chetan Bagharwal (23), Mandsaur (succumbed at Ratlam Medical College)
Two others, Jagdish Bairagi (50) and Deepak Punia (30), both from Jodhpur, sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment.
Accident Spot and Road Condition
According to the Dhar Traffic Police, the accident occurred at a U-turn on a newly constructed road. The Tata Tiago involved in the accident belonged to Girdharilal Makhija, a resident of Ramtekri, Mandsaur.
The police are investigating how the gas tanker entered the wrong lane, leading to this fatal crash. Authorities have urged drivers to be cautious, especially at night, on this newly built highway.
