A theft involving bank cheques and jewellery has been reported in the Dhod police station area of Sikar. The incident came to light when a message about a money withdrawal through a cheque was received on the victim’s phone. The police are now investigating the matter.

Shyamlal Mali, a resident of Anokhu village in the Dhod area, filed a complaint at the Dhod police station. He stated that both he and his father, Richpal, have accounts in Baroda Regional Rural Bank. On January 3, around 2 pm, Shyamlal received a message on his mobile phone about a withdrawal of Rs 50,000 through a cheque. Upon checking the cheque book, Shyamlal discovered that cheques numbered 2 to 10 were missing.

When he checked his father Richpal’s cheque book, he found that cheques numbered 1 to 13 were also missing. Concerned, Shyamlal immediately went to the bank. After updating his father’s passbook, it was revealed that a total of Rs 5,34,000 had been withdrawn from the account using cheques numbered 7, 8, and 11. Shyamlal confirmed that neither he nor his father had signed those cheques.

Upon returning home and checking a box kept in a room, Shyamlal found that gold jewellery and cash worth around Rs 2 lakh were also missing. He suspects that thieves have stolen both the jewellery and the cheques from his house.

The Dhod police have registered a case and are currently investigating the theft.
