SBI Bank Clerk Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
The SBI Bank Clerk Recruitment 2024 selection process includes the following stages:
- Prelims Examination
- Main Examination
- Language Proficiency Test
- Final Selection
Key Details:
- Eligibility: Applicants must be proficient in one of the specified local languages of Ladakh UT—Urdu, Ladakhi, or Bhoti (Bodhi)—in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
- Local Language Test: A test to assess knowledge of the specified local language will be conducted after qualifying the online Main examination but before joining the bank. Candidates who fail this test will not be considered for appointment. Those who provide a 10th or 12th-grade certificate indicating they studied the specified language are exempt from this test.
- Transfer Policy: Selected Junior Associates will not be eligible for Inter Circle or Inter State Transfers.
Selection Process
The selection process comprises an online test (Preliminary & Main Examination) followed by a test of specified opted local language.
Phase-I: Preliminary Examination
The online preliminary exam is an objective test with a total of 100 marks, conducted over 1 hour. The structure of the exam is as follows:

- Separate timing is allocated for each section.
- Negative marking applies: 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual tests or the overall score.
- An adequate number of candidates (approximately 10 times the number of vacancies, subject to availability) will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on descending order of aggregate marks scored.

Candidates must clear the preliminary exam to proceed to the main exam. Marks obtained in the main exam will determine the final merit list. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th of mark assigned for question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
SBI Clerk Salary
Pay Scale: The pay scale for Clerical Cadre is as follows:
₹24,050-1,340/ 3-28,070-1,650/ 3-33,020-2,000/ 4-41,020-2,340/ 7-57,400-4,400/ 1-61,800-2,680/ 1-64,480. The starting basic pay is ₹26,730, which includes two advance increments for graduates (₹24,050 + two increments).
Emoluments: The total starting emoluments, including Dearness Allowance (D.A.) and other allowances, will be approximately ₹46,000 per month. Allowances may vary based on the place of posting. Employees are entitled to additional benefits such as reimbursement of various perquisites, provident fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme (Defined Contribution Benefit), medical facilities, leave travel concessions, and other benefits as per the bank’s guidelines.
