The Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) was launched on April 8, 2015, by the Hon’ble Prime Minister to support non-corporate, non-farm small and micro enterprises. The scheme provides loans of up to Rs.20 lakh, which are categorized as MUDRA loans. Recently, Government has increased limit of PMMY from Rs.10 lakh to Rs.20 lakh. MUDRA Loan Categories
Under the PMMY, three types of loan products have been created to cater to the different stages of a business’s growth and funding requirements. These categories are:
- Shishu – For new and early-stage businesses requiring loans up to ₹50,000.
- Kishore – For businesses that need more funding, with loans ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh.
- Tarun – For businesses looking for larger expansion with loans between ₹5 lakh and ₹10 lakh.
- A new category Tarun Plus has been created to provide loans up to Rs.20 lakh.
These categories help entrepreneurs understand the stage of their business development and serve as a guide for future growth and funding needs.
