Over 350 schools in Bhopal Closed Due to Low Enrollment of Students and Teachers transferred to Other Schools
More than 350 schools in Bhopal and other areas of the state have been closed due to a significant lack of student enrolment. Despite having teachers appointed to these institutions, the classrooms in these schools remain empty.
Reassignment of Teachers
The Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI) has clarified that the schools have not been permanently closed. Instead, the teachers assigned to these schools are being transferred to other schools with higher student populations. This process of reassignment began on Friday, based on enrolment data collected since April 1.
Lack of New Enrolments
Over the past two months, no new enrolments have been recorded in nearly 350 schools across the state. Consequently, the process of transferring teachers to schools where they are needed has commenced at the district level.
District-Level Action
The district education department organized a meeting with the affected teachers, providing them with a list of available schools. Teachers were given the option to select their preferred schools. Those who attended the meeting are being assigned to the schools of their choice. For those who did not attend, the department will determine their new assignments.
Official Statement
Dharmendra Sharma, Deputy Director of DPI, stated, “The schools are not permanently closed, only teachers were transferred to other schools. The department will take further action regarding the empty schools.”
