Reliance Jio, a major telecom service provider in India, has recently made changes to its prepaid and postpaid plans. These changes will go into effect from July 3, 2024. Jio has discontinued the provision of unlimited 5G data for all users and will now offer it only with select plans.

Jio new recharge plans

Jio soft launched on 27 December 2015 with a beta for partners and employees, and became publicly available on 5 September 2016. It is the largest mobile network operator in India and the third largest mobile network operator in the world with over 46.72 crore (467.2 million) subscribers.

During the launch, Jio provided free internet services to users. Jio started giving away its 4G SIM card for free to users. It not only gave users free SIM card but also unlimited free data (1GB data per day at 4G speed) and unlimited VoLTE calls. This disrupted the telecommunications industry as earlier the companies were charging a lot of money for internet services. Jio started providing 1 GB data per day with unlimited calling for only Rs.199 whereas earlier companies were charging Rs.250 for 1 GB data per month. This surely has also helped in deep penetration of internet across the rural India and has also helped in development of online marketplace.

But now, the prices will be increased to Rs.249 for 1 GB data per day. What do you think about this, let us know in the comment section.
