Mataur – An unidentified individual broke into the IndusInd Bank branch in the Phase-3B2 market early Saturday morning and made off with seven mobile phones and two tablets. The burglar gained entry to the bank, located on the first floor of the building, around 1 a.m. by breaking the lock on an iron gate and smashing a glass door with an iron rod.

CCTV footage captured the suspect attempting to open the bank’s cash locker but was unsuccessful. The intruder then stole seven Samsung mobile phones and two tablets before attempting to break into an immigration office on the second floor of the same building. That attempt also failed, and the burglar later entered a gymnasium on the top floor but did not steal anything.

The accused remained inside the building for more than two hours. A bank official confirmed that the gate has been replaced with a more secure lock system. “Fortunately, the accused failed to open the safe, and there was only a small amount of cash inside,” the official added.

Mataur police have registered a case under Sections 331(4) (lurking house-trespass), 305 (theft), and 324(4) (damage to public property) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigations are ongoing.
