An officer in Indian Overseas Bank has filed complaint against Assistant General Manager (AGM) Kashmir Singh and Chief Regional Manager (DGM) Nitish Kumar Sinha. In the complaint, he has mentioned that he was severely harassed at workplace. The case belongs to Ernakulam Regional Office of Indian Overseas Bank.
The officer has said that he was asked to do personal favours for AGM and DGM Nitin Kumar Sinha. He was asked to bring Tea and medicines for seniors. When he denied such services, he was targeted and several actions were taken against him.
He has also said that he has been racially abused by his superiors. A case has been registered in the incident, but the police have not taken any further action. He also said that he was beaten by the senior officers. The bank has said that the caste based complaint is fabricated.
In August 2024, the assistant manager of the Indian Overseas Bank Ernakulam regional office filed a complaint with the Mulavukad police against his superiors. He was forced to do personal favours to his seniors. When he denied, he was threatened with severe actions and transfer. He withdrew the complaint due to fear and threats. After receiving a transfer order to another state, he approached the police again.
The officer said he was harassed for being from a lower caste and forced to do tasks such as watering plants. However, the Kochi Central Police said that Kashmir Singh, who was the accused, also belongs to the Dalit community and therefore a case cannot be filed against Kashmir Singh for caste-based abuse. The accused DGM Nitish Kumar Sinha has also obtained anticipatory bail from the High Court. The police said that there are also practical difficulties in the investigation regarding the complaint that he was transferred without any reason.
