An officer in Indian Overseas Bank has filed complaint against Assistant General Manager (AGM) Kashmir Singh and Chief Regional Manager (DGM) Nitish Kumar Sinha. In the complaint, he has mentioned that he was severely harassed at workplace. The case belongs to Ernakulam Regional Office of Indian Overseas Bank.

The officer has said that he was asked to do personal favours for AGM and DGM Nitin Kumar Sinha. He was asked to bring Tea and medicines for seniors. When he denied such services, he was targeted and several actions were taken against him.

He has also said that he has been racially abused by his superiors. A case has been registered in the incident, but the police have not taken any further action. He also said that he was beaten by the senior officers. The bank has said that the caste based complaint is fabricated.

In August 2024, the assistant manager of the Indian Overseas Bank Ernakulam regional office filed a complaint with the Mulavukad police against his superiors. He was forced to do personal favours to his seniors. When he denied, he was threatened with severe actions and transfer. He withdrew the complaint due to fear and threats. After receiving a transfer order to another state, he approached the police again.

The officer said he was harassed for being from a lower caste and forced to do tasks such as watering plants. However, the Kochi Central Police said that Kashmir Singh, who was the accused, also belongs to the Dalit community and therefore a case cannot be filed against Kashmir Singh for caste-based abuse. The accused DGM Nitish Kumar Sinha has also obtained anticipatory bail from the High Court. The police said that there are also practical difficulties in the investigation regarding the complaint that he was transferred without any reason.

  1. Book all seniors including Branch Manager under IPC without fail. Is there not a peon posted in the branch? Or there is situation emerged of starvation beyond control for Indian Overseas Bank to hire a casual labour?
    What a joke?

Branch Manager is also seen yes man and coward by nature and has bad apetite of
promotion, otherwise he had to revert boldly that “my Asstt Manager is not a office boy”
but he can’t because in any way he is under some undue obligations of his seniors.
who were the members of interview Board
    who selected such

  2. I have worked with Mr. Kashmir Singh and I am not suprised by the news. Thus not the first time he has been accused of such an act. When he was posted in chandigarh region, a similar complaint was filed against him by a female officer, but again no action was gaken against him. Strict action should be taken against such employees.

  3. I don’t understand why the victim didn’t take any action against the culprits at the start of such things and kept obeying his seniors and why he is complaining after being transferred to other state? It means that victim too wanted some extreme personal favours from the culprits and when he failed to do so or it was beyond the culprits limits, he filed the case against his so called culprits. It seems ridiculous that an officer in today’s banking system will be asked to bring tea for his seniors or any work equivalent to it.. God only knows the truth. But if something like this has happened than culprits should be booked and executed with an examplary punishment and vice-versa if not found guilty.

  4. In nationalised banks also it is happening oftenly some we know and some we do not know, it should stopped and harsh action should be taken against the culprits.

  5. This is actually tip of iceberg. The real situation is much worse. IOB MD had given full powers to Regional Managers to use all means to torture staffs and they are doing very well.If anyone dare to speak he will be transferred and salary will be cut. They have weponsied transfers.
Each Regional Manager will nominate 5 officer staff every year for punishment transfers.
