HDFC Bank announced on Monday that it will be carrying out a system upgrade on July 13. During this upgrade, the bank will be migrating its core banking system (CBS) to a new engineered platform with the aim of enhancing the overall customer experience.

Enhancements and Impact on Services

The migration is expected to bring several improvements, including enhanced performance speed, increased capacity to handle high traffic volume, and improved reliability and scalability. However, the bank has cautioned customers that access to certain services may be limited during the scheduled upgrade. To minimize inconvenience, the bank has strategically scheduled the upgrade on a second Saturday, which is a bank holiday. Customers have been advised to plan their banking activities in advance.

Service Availability during Upgrade

According to HDFC Bank, during the 13.5-hour upgrade, customers will still be able to use their debit and credit cards for swipe machine transactions and online transactions, albeit with certain restrictions. Additionally, they can withdraw cash from any ATM using their debit cards, up to a restricted amount.

UPI Service Availability

Customers should note that UPI services will be unavailable for a specific duration on July 13, 2024. From 3:00 AM to 3:45 AM and from 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM, UPI services will not be accessible. Furthermore, merchants will continue to receive payments via cards, but updates to the account for the previous day’s payments will only be available after the upgrade is completed.
