Public sector banks (PSBs) and financial institutions have raised ₹4.5 crore by selling scrap during a special month-long campaign focused on cleanliness and efficiency from October 2 to October 31, 2024. This initiative aimed to reduce backlog and promote a cleaner environment.

The Department of Financial Services (DFS) launched Special Campaign 4.0 to enhance space management, prioritize customer service, and improve record-keeping. The campaign involved all organizations under the DFS, including PSBs, public sector insurance companies, and other institutions like NABARD and SIDBI.

During the campaign, the DFS successfully resolved all public grievances, appeals, and references to the Prime Minister’s Office and Members of Parliament. As a result, they freed up around 11.79 lakh square feet of space and earned ₹4.5 crore from scrap disposal, with activities taking place at more than 38,500 locations across India.

Furthermore, 12 PSBs and 43 Regional Rural Banks held Pension Grievances Weeks to address pension-related issues. These sessions not only resolved grievances but also informed pensioners about submitting online life certificates and accessing doorstep banking services. Over 52,208 branches reached out to approximately 1.45 lakh pensioners during this campaign.

In addition to these efforts, banks raised awareness about cybersecurity by sharing educational videos and safety tips on social media to help prevent cyber fraud. The DFS also organized financial literacy camps in over 510 locations, resulting in the activation of nearly 79.97 lakh dormant accounts.

The Life Insurance Corporation of India played a significant role as well, settling 12.77 lakh unclaimed policies and processing claims exceeding ₹10,742 crore.

This comprehensive campaign illustrates the commitment of public sector banks and financial institutions to improving customer service, enhancing cleanliness, and fostering financial literacy across the country.
