Punjab National Bank (PNB) has recently released the new transfer policy in accordance with DFS guidelines. All the points in the policy are accepted by Employees except the clause of transfer on 6 and 9 years. Employees say that this will highly impact their family life and well being. According to employees, in PNB, some circles have a radius of approximately 200 kilometres and this means that after 6 years an employee will be transferred 200-300 kilometres away from his/her home.

Employees receiving medical treatment, Female Staff and other staff whose spouse is working in other organisation will suffer the most.

Frequent relocations may cause stress, requiring employees to adjust to new work environments, management, and local cultures. Employees may face difficulties in maintaining friendships, children’s schooling, and social life due to frequent moves.

Many female employees manage both work and home. Frequent transfers may make it harder to balance responsibilities. Moving to unfamiliar locations, especially rural or high-crime areas, may pose safety issues. If family constraints arise, some female employees may opt for a career break, leading to reduced workforce participation.

If both spouses work in different organizations, one may have to resign or find a transfer, which is not always possible. Long-distance relationships due to transfers can impact family life and mental well-being. Employees planning to buy a house or settle in one city may struggle due to continuous relocations.

Children may need to shift schools frequently, affecting their education and mental well-being. Teenagers, in particular, may struggle with frequent changes in their social circle and environment.
