Recently, a woman in Bengaluru had filed a complaint against SBI Branch. She said that Gold and Jewellery was missing from her locker. Soon complaint was filed in Police and investigation started.
Now, the State Bank of India (SBI) has denied claims of missing jewellery from a locker at its Dollars Colony branch in Bengaluru. The bank clarified that all valuables were later found during an official police inspection.
What Happened?
A 54-year-old homemaker named Bindu CD had filed a police complaint, claiming that 145 grams of gold and diamond jewellery had disappeared from her locker. Based on her complaint, the Sadashivanagar police registered a case under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with theft from a secure place.
In response to the complaint, the police conducted investigation inside the SBI branch. The inspection was done in the presence of:
- The complainant, Bindu CD
- Bank staff
- Independent witnesses
During the process, Bindu herself opened the locker, and to everyone’s surprise, all the jewellery was found intact inside. According to SBI, some of the items had been stored deep within the locker and were “inadvertently overlooked” by the customer during earlier checks.
Inspection Was Videographed for Transparency
The entire process was recorded on video by the authorities to ensure transparency and to avoid any confusion. As part of normal procedure, the jewellery was temporarily taken into police custody after the inspection.
No Breach or Tampering, Says SBI
SBI confirmed that:
- There was no sign of tampering with the locker
- All locker security protocols were followed
- There was no unauthorized access or breach of bank procedures
Their official statement read:
“All locker access protocols and security procedures at the Dollars Colony branch were fully operational and uncompromised at all times.”
This shows that Public Sector Banks maintain highest level of integrity and these Banks are highly trusted by people all across India.
